Did you know that May is officially labeled National Military Appreciation Month?  While many months may have labels, at House of Jerky, we jump at this month’s opportunity to honor our military and the people that support them.  Not only do we remember our fallen on Memorial Day, but additional military anniversaries and events occur in May, including Armed Forces Day and Victory in Europe Day commemorating the end of WWII in Europe in 1945.    This led Congress to designate May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999.

Our founder, Ron Hargett, was a proud veteran and so we have always offered discounts and free shipping to our active duty military.

But in May, it doesn’t feel like enough.

From all of us at House of Jerky:

Thank you for the sacrifices, of leaving your family and friends, of leaving all that is safe and secure, by walking in to danger.  For gracefully missing birthdays, holidays and other celebrations because your country needs you.

Thank you for continuing to serve, without ever being fully repaid, besides knowing the good that a free county is to all of its citizens.  For standing up for democracy when so many others around the world question and threaten it.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication.  Without your dedication to your training and your job, America and Freedom do not survive.  With your long hours, you make this world and our country a safer place.

John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”  Thank you for inspiring all of us to be better Americans!

If you would like to join in on thanking our military, check out Operation Gratitude.  They have so many ideas, from writing letters to knitting hats!  You are sure to find an opportunity there to fit your skills and thank those military personnel that do so much for our country.
